I hope everyone is having a wonderful 4th of July! I have had a great day. My friend Kate and I went to one of Glasgow’s most prominent American restaurants, T.G.I. Friday’s, on Buchanan Street. The place was decked out with red, white and blue balloons, banners and plastic American flags. It was awesome!
What was even more awesome was when our waitress gave us some American flag temporary tattoos and our very own plastic flags. To say we were excited is putting it very, very lightly! I almost giggled myself off my chair!! So we applied our tats and spent the afternoon feeling vaguely superior to every else in the world. Why? Because we’re American, obviously!!
We also indulged ourselves with a bit of Baskin Robbins ice cream in the afternoon, but I don’t feel the need to dwell on that detail! It was delicious, though!
There may not have been any BBQs or Fireworks, but I think we celebrated the best we could. Considering there was heavy rain and gale-force winds most of the day, I would say we did a pretty good job!!!
So, to Kate, a big thank you for making this my best 4th of July spent on UK soil. And to the U.S.A., Happy Birthday!!
